Gouverneur Morris letters, 1905-1911.

The collection contains 18 letters. In 17 of the letters, Morris writes to Dear Charles or Charlie, possibly his editor at Collier's. The letters contain personal information and some opinions about writing in general, but are chiefly about what he is writing or submitting. Five of the letters are undated. Morris also writes to Dear (Nub?) from Aiken, S.C., undated, about a study on crocodiles and hallucination.

Gouverneur Morris, the grandson of the American statesman for whom he was named, was born in New York and was a graduate of Yale. He was a prolific writer of short stories for popular magazines and wrote several novels. Many of his short stories were made into films, 1918-1930.
